Welcome to English Bulldogs USA, LLC Breeder

English Bulldogs USA, LLC Breeder - Home of Happy Puppies!

Our answers to your questions:

When seeking a reputable breeder for an English Bulldog or any other brachycephalic breed, it's crucial to ask the right questions to ensure they're responsible and ethical. Here are some great questions to ask:

1. Can I visit your facility/home to see where the puppies are raised?

  • Reputable breeders should have no issue with allowing potential buyers to visit their premises to see the conditions in which the dogs are kept. It is important to note that some breeders might be a little wary of strangers to their home and would prefer meeting in an alternative spot like outside. Be respectful of their personal space, but ask questions if you feel there is a red flag other than a security issue. Maybe see if they can arrange a facetime or video call.

OUR ANSWER: You can absolutely visit our home if you are interested in one of our puppies. We allow visits after they puppies hit 5 weeks of age. We can also video / Facetime call you to show you the pups and the momma.  Because of the high theft of bulldog puppies we want to ensure your safety and ours to let everyone know we have a full security system outside and inside our home with audio.

2. Can I meet the parent dogs?

  • Meeting the parent dogs can give you insight into their temperament, health, and living conditions. However most breeders use stud services and do not have the males in the same house. If this is the case you can always ask for the contact information to the stud owner to ask them questions.

OUR ANSWER: You can meet my females but we use a stud service, we can supply you with all their contact info on them so you can reach out to them yourself to ask any questions you many have regarding their male. We also know more about our bulldogs pedigree than most bulldog owners out there because we have done the research on all our bulldogs and even the studs we use in a breeding. I can trace our bulldogs back to the 1800's and can tell you how many champion bulldogs are in their trees. All our puppies go home with at least a full 8 year pedigree but have access to our online tree that will trace them back to the early 1800's. Yes I even research the studs we use in our breedings (before and after).

3. Can you provide health clearances for the parent dogs?

  • Responsible breeders typically screen their parent dogs for genetic health issues relevant to the breed, such as hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, and certain eye conditions.
  • English Bulldogs breeders should ALWAYS test for HU, DM and CRM1 - the goal is to have them clear or just a carrier of one copy, but NEVER 2 copies. Have them send you the actual report and not just take their word for it. If the parents are clear the puppies should be clear also, since these are hereditary conditions.
  • Ask if they have had any surgeries - Nares, Soft Pallet, Cherry Eye and Tail Pocket issues or tail removal. Although some of these issues can just randomly occur like cherry eye with hard play or stress which are not something that is hereditary but it's always good to know.

OUR ANSWER: Absolutely we test all our bulldogs before considering to breed. Health is a number one priority to us. We will show you any testing, DNA and bloodlines (pedigree). We will fully disclose anything you need to know about our bulldogs and puppies.

4. How many litters do you have per year?

  • A breeder producing multiple litters per year may prioritize quantity over quality, which could be a red flag.
  • A female English Bulldog should never be bred under 18 months old (should be around or close to 2 years old = 3 heat cycles).
  • A female English Bulldog should never have more than 4 litters in her lifetime and should be done breeding by the age of 4 or 5 years old. Remember dog years are different than human years so keep in mind how old her uterus will be after the age of 5 (36 years old) since she is considered a medium breed.
  • Standard breeding practices and vet's will tell you it's better to have a female bred back to back 3 or 4 times vs spacing them out because of possible infections like mastitis. Not only that but if you do them back to back they will only have between the age of 2 and 4 to have their litters.

OUR ANSWER: We only have 2 maybe 3 litters per year. We do back to back breeding's because of the health of our females is important to us. If they have large litters we stop at 3 breeding's, but if they are generally small we will do 4. That is based off of a case by case scenario. All our girls have had 3 full heats and were almost 2 or 2 years old before their first breeding. We feel this is the best way to protect our females health.

5. Do you breed other breeds besides English Bulldogs?

  • Specializing in one breed suggests a deeper understanding and commitment to that breed's specific needs.

OUR ANSWER: We only breed English Bulldogs. They are our family, life and joy. Their health will always come first. They eat and live better than us.

6. What steps do you take to socialize the puppies?

  • Proper socialization is crucial for puppies' development, so ensure the breeder exposes them to various people, environments, and experiences.

OUR ANSWER: We only raise our pups to have the best chances of being as healthy and happy. We allow our adults to interact with them as they get older. We introduce them to a litter pan when they start to walk and outside as they get older. Most if not all my owners are so happy they are easy to potty train. We allow them to experience group and one on one time with us and with grooming items such as getting nails trimmed or brushed or bathed.

7. What is your rehoming policy?

  • A responsible breeder will have a plan in place to take back or assist in rehoming a dog if the buyer cannot keep it for any reason. This will lessen a chance that bulldogs will end up in shelters.

OUR ANSWER: We have a very detailed contract that details what will happen in the event you cannot keep your puppy. We try to ensure the buyers that we pick will never have to go through this but life happens and when it does we have ways to make sure none of our puppies will never see the inside of a shelter.  We understand you pay a lot for your puppy and we also paid a lot for that puppy through the cost of breeding plus all the sleepless nights making sure they make it to 8 weeks of age.

8. Can you provide references from past puppy buyers?

  • Hearing from previous customers about their experiences with the breeder can offer valuable insights.

OUR ANSWER: We have the best puppy owners. Not only can you read reviews on the website but I can get you contact info if you need a more in-depth review.

9. Are your puppies dewormed, vaccinated, and microchipped before leaving your care?

  • Puppies should receive appropriate veterinary care before being placed in their new homes.
  • Holistic approach will tell you that puppies shouldn't receive any vaccinations before 8 weeks so they can build up their own natural immunity. However most breeders will vaccinate by 6 weeks because that is the normal timeline. Always talk to the breeder about what is best for the puppy.

OUR ANSWER: We want these pups to have the very best chance at building their natural immunity so we do not vaccinate our pups before they leave our home. Mothers normally pass on a lot of antibodies through the mothers milk. We believe that if a bulldog puppy has the ability to build their own natural immunity's, then they will experience far less allergies or health issues than most other bulldogs. What we don't want is over vaccinated pups that can't fight off infections or have more health issues. We do however talk to our buyer and help educate them and if the new buyer does want vaccines before leaving we will do them. We are defiantly not anti-vaccines.

10. Do you offer a health guarantee for your puppies?

  • Reputable breeders often provide a health guarantee, typically covering genetic health issues for a specified period after purchase.

OUR ANSWER: Yes we offer a one year health guaranty - please ask to see a copy or we normally will send a copy soon after you choose us as your breeder.

11. Are you involved in any dog-related organizations or clubs?

  • Active involvement in breed clubs or organizations indicates a commitment to the betterment of the breed and adherence to ethical standards.

OUR ANSWER: No, we have never really been into showing off our bulldogs. They are our family and I don't enjoy crowds enough to want to participate. We do have a FB Group about Holisitic help if you would enjoy learning more or helping to educate others in better natural ways to care for your English Bulldogs.

12. What steps do you take to ensure your puppies go to responsible homes?

  • Ethical breeders will have a screening process to ensure their puppies are placed in suitable environments with caring owners.

OUR ANSWER: We are super picky on who we choose to buy one of our pups. The contract really sets the rules and legal responsibility that we hold binding. It protect you and I but it also protects the puppy most of all. By choosing us as your breeder we work with you before, during and long after the sale is complete. We are always here for our pups years after the sale if the owners need us. We enjoy watching them grow and I pretty much stalk them online (sorry not sorry). If you ever would need advice or anything we are always here to help.

By asking these questions and carefully evaluating the breeder's responses, you can make an informed decision and ensure that you're supporting responsible breeding practices.
